The Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum (CSLF)

The Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum (CSLF) is a Ministerial-level international climate change initiative focused on the development of improved, cost-effective technologies for the separation and capture of carbon dioxide (CO2) for its transport, utilization and long-term safe storage.  The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia joined the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum (CSLF) in 2005, to help reinforce its efforts under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto Protocol.

The mission of the CSLF is to facilitate the development and deployment of such technologies via collaborative efforts that address key technical, economic, and environmental obstacles. The CSLF will also promote awareness and champion legal, regulatory, financial, and institutional environments conducive to such technologies.  The CSLF is currently comprised of 25 members, including 24 countries (Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Republic of Korea, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States.) and the European Commission. CSLF member countries represent over 3.5 billion people, or approximately 60% of the world’s population.

The DNA participates in the CSLF meetings as a member of the Saudi delegation.
